Momentum is on our side in this series: Ervin

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) gave a big surprise while announcing the T20 squad for the Zimbabwe series. Because this year’s squad was announced without senior cricketers. Nurul Hasan Sohan’s team will embark on a mission to prove themselves from the first T20 starting on July 30. However, Zimbabwean captain Craig Irvine gave a warning before going down in the first match. He reminded that the momentum in the recent performance is towards Zimbabwe.

A few days ago, Bangladesh lost 2-0 in the three-match T20 series in the West Indies. On the other hand, Zimbabwe has been in good form in T20 for quite some time. They have become champions of Group ‘B’ of the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers at their home ground.

Arvin considers this result as motivation for now, “Look, of course, as you said, Bangladesh has come without experienced cricketers. I think I had a good week at the qualifiers in Bulawayo. We believe we have momentum in this series. They have not been good in T20 recently. We want to bring the momentum of Bulawayo here.”

Irvine indicated to play fearless cricket against Bangladesh in the official press conference. He also reminded that Zimbabwe has brought positive changes in their playing style in T20.

Irvin also said, “We have changed the mentality of playing T20. I think a lot of people saw that in Bulawayo, the way we played T20 before and the way we played in Bulawayo is very different. If we can play that positive and fearless cricket, the statistics will gradually change.”

Mahmudullah Riyad, the regular captain of Bangladesh T20 cricket, will not be present in this series starting from Saturday. Mushfiqur Rahim has also been rested. Shakib Al Hasan is not considered for this series as he has already taken leave.

Bangladesh will play three T20Is and an ODI series of the equal number of matches in this upcoming tour. However, Tamim Iqbal is the captain in the ODI series. Both Mahmudullah and Mushfiq will play in the 50 over matches.
