Bangladesh Test captain Shakib Al Hasan has signed an official agreement with Bet Winner News, a subsidiary of betting organization Bet Winner. Anything related to betting is strictly prohibited by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). Even the law of the land prohibits it.
BCB is trying to resolve the contract issue with Betwinner News in talks with Shakib. That means Shakib will be removed from this contract. BCB Cricket Operations Committee Chairman Jalal Younus continues the discussion. He thinks it could be a mistake and hopes it will be resolved soon.
On Monday (August 8), Jalal said to a question of the journalists, “He was informed that we do not accept it.” We told him, he is our player, he will understand that too. No one wants to get involved in such controversial issues. Be it unknowingly or knowingly, there may be mistakes. We are trying to resolve it, hopefully it will be resolved.
Shakib himself announced this partnership with Betwinner News on his official Facebook page. Last Tuesday night, Shakib announced the official partnership with Bet News on Facebook and wrote, ‘Dear fans. I am proud to announce the official agreement with Bet News.” Shakib also wrote, ‘Bet Winner News is the only source of sports news. Shakib’s T20 captaincy is stuck due to this contract. BCB wants to resolve it and announce the name. Earlier, the board president said that he should be given a notice. Since then, BCB is mainly discussing with Shakib.
Jalal said, “There has been an issue. We are in touch with him about it. We have been in contact with him several times. As this is the issue, we need to address it. Talking to him to solve the problem. You will know in a couple of days.
“In any case, we certainly show zero tolerance for such betting. His affiliation is seen here that he has an agreement with a subsidiary of a company. We told him that and he knows it. We are trying to solve it as soon as possible.’- Jalal added.
