Jos Buttler to lead England in ODI & T20.

Jos Butler has been named captain of the England ODI and T20 teams. The England Cricket Board (ECB) announced the name of the new captain on 27 June, shortly after the retirement of Eoin Morgan. The ECB confirmed in a press release.

Butler has been Morgan’s vice-captain since 2015. The wicketkeeper-batsman has also led England in 14 matches in Morgan’s absence due to injury and rest. Butler was supposed to be the captain after Morgan’s departure.

Butler thanked the former captain for leading England. “I want to thank Morgan for his incredible leadership over the last seven years,” he said in a statement. “The time will be memorable for everyone on the team. Playing under him was always a great experience. I have learned a lot from him, which I would like to add to my leadership.” he added.

Buttler sees it as a great honor to lead England as Morgan’s successor. He said, ‘It is a great honor for me to take the lead from Ewen. Under his leadership, England’s white ball cricket has reached an exciting stage. I look forward to meeting the challenges that lie ahead. ”

Buttler is also optimistic about England’s white ball cricket. Buttler in particular is thrilled with the depth of the team as a captain. Butler’s captaincy career will also start with a big challenge. Butler’s first assignment as captain will be the ODI and T20 series against India at home.

Commenting on the upcoming series, Butler said, “The strength of white team cricket is great. We have a white ball series against India next week. Then I will play against South Africa at the end of July. I look forward to leading the team. It is always an honor to lead one’s own country. I have led England before and enjoyed the responsibility. I am now looking forward to taking the team further. ”

Buttler-led England will also do well in the T20 World Cup in Australia in October-November, said Claire Connor, acting chief executive of the ECB. “I am thrilled with how Joss and Matthew Mott (England’s white ball coach) lead the team,” he said in a statement. Especially before the T20 World Cup, the team will hopefully develop well. ‘
