Liton likely to bat in middle-order in T20s
Liton Das has been Bangladesh’s first-choice opener in the T20 format for a long time now. However, the team management is now considering him in the middle order ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup following experienced batsman Mushfiqur Rahim’s retirement from this format.
The number four position in Bangladesh’s batting lineup is left vacant after Mushfiqur’s T20I retirement as he was used to batting in that position. “We are planning to play him at four though a final decision is yet to be taken in this regard,” BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin revealed team management’s T20 world cup planning.

Although the team management is quite determined to play him at the number four position in the upcoming T20I matches, they will speak to Liton to check how he takes this decision.
“Look we are not likely to open with Liton but how he takes this decision is something we have to see but we will certainly talk with him in the upcoming practice session,” he added.
As per Minhajul Abedin Nannu, this is what the recently appointed technical consultant Sridharan Sriram desires as he watched how Liton bats and stated that he requires a batsman like Liton at number four.
“This is what he( Sriram) wants because he has seen how Liton bats and was saying that he needs a batsman like Liton and Afif coming at number four and five because hitting boundaries after the first six overs is difficult because players are spread everywhere and at that point, such a player is needed who can play in the gaps and do power hitting and for that Liton and Afif is very good,” he said.
