The last day to announce the Asia Cup team was August 8. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has taken an extra three days from the Asian Cricket Council due to injuries to several cricketers. Today (Thursday) was the last day of that time.
But BCB has not announced the team even today. However, BCB president Nazmul Hasan Papon said that the team will be announced within a couple of days. Papon said this after a meeting with board directors at Beximco Pharma office today.
He said, ‘We will probably give the team tomorrow (Friday) or the day after at the latest. There is a high probability of giving it tomorrow. There have been discussions about what the scenario could look like. Here we have to keep one thing in mind that Tamim is not playing T20. Liton Das, Sohan and Rabbi are injured. So all three are not in our squad. The main issue was to organize the team.
Chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu was present in the meeting of BCB officials. Besides, Director Mahbub Anam, Enayet Hossain Siraj, Chief Executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury Sujan and Cricket Operations Committee Chairman Jalal Yunus were also present in the meeting.
