Australia stood beside Sri Lanka

Due to the unprecedented economic crisis in Sri Lanka, the protesters took to the field to overthrow the Rajapaksa government. Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa fled the country amid protests.

Cricket Australia (CA) stood by Sri Lanka in this economic crisis.

Australia recently won the T20I series in Sri Lanka but lost in the ODI series. And the two-match Test series was drawn.

The Australian cricket team has decided to donate the prize money from the recently concluded tour to Sri Lanka to help children and their families there.

Australian Test captain Pat Cummins, who is also a UNICEF Australia ambassador, and limited-overs captain Aaron Finch and other team members have also decided to donate 45,000 Australian dollars.

According to the Daily Mirror, Pat Cummins said, “We have seen for ourselves the problems that Sri Lankans are facing every day. We have seen people suffering before our eyes. So we gave the prize money to UNICEF. They have been helping the people and children of Sri Lanka for over 50 years.

Tony Stewart, the CEO of UNICEF Australia, said that last year, Australian cricketers also contributed 50,000 Australian dollars during the Corona epidemic in India.
