What Tamim said before leaving for Zimbabwe tour

The members of the ODI team left Dhaka for the tour of Zimbabwe. Apart from Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah, Mushfiqur Rahim and Taijul Islam have gone.

Before flying, Tamim said that he is giving importance to the performance on the field during the tour of Zimbabwe. At the same time, he also said that there is trust in T20 captain Nurul Hasan Sohan.

Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah Riyad, Mushfiqur Rahim and Taijul Islam appeared at the airport after 11:30 on Friday night. Tiger fans thronged the gate of the terminal to bid farewell to the cricketers. ODI captain Tamim Iqbal emphasized on the performance of the field even though he accepted himself as the favorite in the tour of Zimbabwe.

He said, “who is ahead and who is behind does not matter but who is playing well or who is playing badly is more important. We are definitely a better team than them in their country too, no doubt about it; But it is not so easy to lose them in their country.”

Although there is a lot of discussion about senior-junior in the team now, Tamim expressed his disinterest in that matter. Along with that, he emphasized on contributing to the victory of the team.

Tamim also said that the young-old thing is being talked about a bit more lately. I think we will select the best XI from among those who deserve a chance in the top 15 squad.

Nurul Hasan Sohan is leading the Bangladesh team in the T20 series on the tour of Zimbabwe. Despite the new experience, the ODI captain has full confidence in this wicketkeeper-batsman. Regarding Sohan’s captaincy, Tamim said, he (Sohan) has captained domestic cricket before. It is going to be a new and exceptional challenge for him. I certainly wish him well, prayers.

The Tigers whitewashed the hosts in the ODI series despite losing the Test and T20 series on the tour of Windies. After that, the team left for Zimbabwe without enough practice. Despite the dissatisfaction, the Tigers are confident of doing well in this series.
